Dropbox Dashboard Redesign

I participated in a 24hr design challenge that asked to redesign Dropbox's dashboard to help increase visibility of the types of files users have.

I started off creating a wireframe to get the main elements on the page and to figure out the direction I wanted to go. In my final design, I chose to create tiles that gave a brief overview of each type of file and the amount of space they are currently using. This gives the user an overall idea of which files they've previously opened, what types of files they have, how much space they have left as well as an area to quickly drop and upload files. The current version of Dropbox lumps all content together unless you create your own folders. I wanted to create a dashboard that gave the user the ability to do a quick scan of their content as well as the ability to have preset folders. The functionality of this dashboard is the user could select the folder from the side bar and that would open the appropriate folder (i.e. Documents, Photos etc). The user could also select the title of one of the tiles to view an entire list of all the files within that folder. The tile would slide down to take over the entire screen with the side bar still in place.
